Weaving With Watercolour April 2015

This work instead of being based on straight lines is essentially drawn with the circle as it’s route. This is the fist one I did, I alternated to orientation of the blue/purple strips.

Here is the second painting, a far larger diameter was used to create this alongside a thicker cut strip. So two simple variations alongside a change in colour produce a strikingly different result.

In this painting I made the strips smaller and changed colour again. There are sections here where a more subtle contrast appears.

So here I moved the variations on. This time maintaining the thickness of the strips but making a variation in terms of how they are layed out. With all this work the initial two washes are always graded or have a gradation in there colour.

The same principle as above except I now have total variation in the horizontal and vertical strips.

Here I have made both vertical and horizontal axis strips grade thinner as they move from the center of the painting.

A total change of design here. Now I’m using the circle in a more complete form so 270 instead of 90 degree. The options in terms of layout were endless.
