The artist says: “I’ve always painted watercolour doorway paintings doorways although it was when I was living in Mexico that I really embraced my near infatuation with them. Each doorway has a unique set of characteristics, almost a personality.

There are many elements that attract me to this subject, from the colour combinations that work either in harmony or contrast provide endless possibilities and I purposely play with them. There is the use of shadow that provides a clarity and variation within the composition. Lastly the interior of the open door can create a sense of potential narrative and mystery that can be intriguing.
